Fun Fact

A woman tried to commit suicide by jumping off the Empire State Building. She jumped from the 86th floor but was blown back onto the 85th floor by a gust of wind.

Standing almost 1,500 feet tall, there’s no way anyone could survive that fall.

However, when Elvita Adams tried to kill herself by jumping, a strong gust of wind blew her to the floor below.

The worst injury she sustained was a fractured hip.

Giants were a big part of Ancient Greek Mythology, and their existence was “proved” to the Greeks by enormous bones that could be found buried throughout the mountainous landscape. These “giant bones” were probably very convincing, although today we know that they were likely the bones of wooly mammoths and mastodons that can still be found all over the country.

You don’t have to tip the person who comes out to pump your gas, but a buck or two is always nice.

Stink Bugs – Africa

Used to flavour stews or eaten on their own, stinkbugs are said to have a crunch to them and taste a little like apple. Prepared by boiling, the bugs release defensive pheromones in a last ditch attempt to survive, and while it hurts the eyes it’s no more successful than the onion’s weak survival attempt.
