This week I have read 4 books! 2 were audiobooks and 2 were novels!
This is what I have read…
Law of Attraction for Weight Loss by Elena G. Rivers
The Finnish Guide to Happiness by Melanie Dower
Summer in the City by Alex Aster
The Do-Over by Lynn Painter
This is what I thought of each one.
Law of Attraction for Weight Loss by Elena G. Rivers
It was a good book to listen to but I will not listen to it again. It was nice to think of affirmations in a different way I guess but at the same time, there was this huge disclaimer at the beginning of the book that might discourage others to actual listen and to take its advice/tips.
The main thing with this book is to be as specific as possible with your affirmations and repeat them to yourself twice daily. Once in the morning and once at night.
The Finnish Guide to Happiness by Melanie Dower
This audiobook was great, it is about a woman moving to Finland with her husband and child, and her experience living there for the past 9 years.Finland has ranked high on the happiness scale for a long period, but why is that? The author thinks that it is because their sense of community and that their taxes are high, but they pay for social programs that everyone in the country, no matter their status in life does benefits from daily that it makes people generally happy. When you can enjoy something and you know that the less fortunate can as well, it makes it better.Governments that work for everyone make it a lot better as well!
Summer in the City by Alex Aster
This is such a cute book.Elle moves to New York for the summer to write her screenplay that is set in New York and is house-sitting for her sister. On the same floor of the condo, she meets this tech millionaire, Parker and they kick it off.Parker and Elle end up having such a cute summer together and fall in love. When the summer is over, Elle's screenplay is done, and she needs to move back to LA as the house sitting is now over, when Parker proposes, this scares Elle, and she runs back to LA.The book then jumps 1.5 years ahead, Elle is moving back to New York and is looking for somewhere to live when she sees this townhouse that she and Parker once joked about is up for sale. Elle tours it and sees that the one floor is dedicated to the one summer that she had with Parker, and that Parker is the private owner of the property and essentially was waiting for her to purchase it!Elle and Parker meet up at an event for artists where Elle is somewhat a guest of honour at. From this event Elle and Parker have another great summer where at the end of it Parker re-proposes to Elle and of course she says yes so summer never has to end!
The Do-Over by Lynn Painter
This is a very cute, wholesome kind of story.Emilie is the perfect child, with the perfect GPA (4.2), perfect boyfriend (Josh), and loves Valentine's Day. On this Valentine's Day, Emilie looks at her planner and sees what is planned, grabs her boyfriend's gift, and then drives to school. On her drive to school, she has to suddenly stop when the truck in front of her does. Luckily, the truck belongs to her chem lab partners (Nick Stark). Emilie's car starts to go on fire, so Nick gives Emilie a ride to school.Halfway through the day, Emilie tries to find Josh when he sees him in his car, talking and then kissing his ex-girlfriend, Macy. Emilie goes home to her dad's, where she finds out that he is moving to Texas due to his new promotion. Emilie's parents are divorced and split her time between her parents but she always felt at home with her dad the most. Emilie finishes off the day by going to her grandma's house to sleep. When Emilie wakes up, it is February 14th again, again, and then again. Due to the do-over day, Emilie decides to have a day of no consequences, or DONC for short, and drags Nick along with her. They have a fabulous day together. When Emilie goes to sleep, she wakes up, but it's February 15th, and now she needs to pay with consequences. What comes after is just pure rom-com and how to redeem yourself for sure!
Overall, I am happy with what I was able to read this week. Hopefully you find the same with these reads. I am looking forward to what I am going to read next week as well!
Happy reading everyone and we will see you next week!
