Classic Literature and Volunteering!

This week has been eventful with running errands, volunteering for the Ontario Summer Games, and The Friends of the Library Bookstore which I haven’t had much time to read this week.

I had such reading plans but right but I didn’t end up reading very much, I volunteered though!

I decided a few months ago to sign up for the Ontario Summer Games that was held here and it was worth it in my opinion.  I rather enjoyed getting to see the soccer games I didn’t volunteer for the t-shirt, the swag, or the food that I got but they were bonuses that I did get which was very nice.  I got to meet new people and was able to do things that I normally wouldn’t be doing which was very fun.

I am hoping that I will get more time to read over the next week but we will have to wait and see, but I do plan to make it more of a priority.

I volunteer weekly at Friends of the Library Bookstore which I find to be quite entertaining but I didn’t see any good books this week which was OK and it's not every week that you find something.  Maybe I didn’t see anything because I knew right afterwards I was going to Rib Fest in the park, that I just didn’t want to be walking around with a whole bunch of books.

After finishing War of the Worlds by H.G. Wells, instead of picking up a new book to read, I decided that I was going to watch War the Worlds, the movie that came out in 2005 with Tom Cruise and Dakota Fanning.  I am not sure why but I thought that they were off in the sort that they were not related just the same title but I was wrong.  I am so happy that I took the time to watch the movie because it is a lot more a lot than what I originally thought it was.  Of course, there are a lot of creative differences but all the major points are there that you would want to be there and that is all that you could want.  I rather enjoyed it.

Now that I have a major volunteer event out of the way, I plan on taking some time to relax and read this weekend as much of what I have to do is now over.  I am happy that I was able to read the book and now watch the movie as well.

Volunteering is a great way to get to know your community and a decent way to get out of the house and to do something new.  I hope that everyone takes the time to volunteer!
