eReaders or Physical Books

I have often wondered this myself which one is better to have and to use. I currently do not have an ereader but do plan on getting on by the end of the month. I do think that it will be a great purchase for me to get. I do have some physical books that I will read as reading off of a device might get tiresome but it will be handy when we are not at home and out living our lives in the real world.

I think that ereaders are so sleek that you can put them in your day and whenever you are waiting for someone you can really just pull it out and transport yourself to a different world all together. I think that it is a great device that we have that promotes reading. Anything that will make you want to read is good on my part.

As a child I would read a lot but as an adult I have tended to not read at all, I watch way to much TV. I have consumed my time with things that do not matter. I would like to be reading one book a month but I will settle for eight books being read this year if that what ends up happening. I watch some booktubers on YouTube and some of them, mainly because it is their job tend to read one book a week at least. It is totally manageable I think but I don’t think that I can do that at least right off the bat.

I heard a statistic once and I don’t know how true it actually is, who they surveyed and if it is still true today but it said that students watch 2-5 hours of TV a day and the average adult watches 5-7 hours of TV a night.

It got me thinking. If it takes you 2 minutes to read one page then it would take you 2 hours and 50 minutes to read 75 pages. If you read 75 pages a day then you could read a book that is 400 pages in one week. Now I don’t think it will take most people 2 minutes to read one single page but the concept is, is that if you read 75 pages a day, it will cut down on your TV time in half. I mean if it takes you 1 minute to read one page then it would take you 1 hour and 25 minutes to read 75 pages. 90 minutes really isn’t that long if you think about it. Most movies meant for kids are 90 minutes. If you are going to watch 5 hours of TV a night anyways why not watch 3 and a half hours of TV and read for 1 and a half hours as well. I mean instead of watching 3 movies a night why not just watch 2?

I do agree that books and TV are not going anywhere but it is worth a shot right? I mean I don’t have to be doing all of the reading all in one chunk of my evening as well either.

What do you think about this? Is this something that you might try? Have you ever considered doing this? Do you enjoy reading? Do you watch a lot of TV? What do you do instead of watching TV? How much time do you spend in front of the TV a day?
