My Best Friend’s Wedding came out in 1997 starring Julia Roberts, Dermot Mulroney, Cameron Diaz and Rupert Everett.
The movie is about two friends Julianne and Michael after getting together after spending some time part for Michael’s wedding. Michael is getting married to Kimberly and Julianne is getting so angry that this is happening as she can no longer get together with Michael anymore, she wants him more then ever.
As the movie progresses Julianne tries to break them up and cause some drama but as it turns out Michael really does love Kimberly. Julianne even confessed her love for him but that didn’t matter as Michael really does want to marry Kimberly.
Michael and Kimberly really do seem happy, but they don’t seem like the likely pair as she is so much younger than him, dropping out of university to be with Michael as his job requires him to travel around the country a lot. Kimberly’s father owns the Yankees and the sports cable channel, so if Michael ever wants to settle down, he can work at his father in laws company. Kimberly definitely was born with a silver spoon in her mouth and well the parties that her family throws before the wedding and the wedding is spectacular.
Kimberly and Julianne do make up after the confrontation that must happen between them. An airing out of them is great and I am happy that the two of them could have it all sorted out in the end.
The wedding happens and it is wonderful to see.
The movie has aged well except for the technology which never ages well. The cell phones and laptops have really come along away.
I remember this movie was big when it came out but really all of the actors in this movie were big in this movie at the time but aren’t really doing anything now and are not as big of stars. This movie was in Julia Roberts ‘hay day’ as an actor, she was definitely a huge ticket seller in the 1990’s.
I really enjoyed seeing this movie again after the many years that it has come out.
Would I recommend this movie? Yes, if you are looking to have a blast form the past and a girly movie then I would suggest this movie to you!
