The Holiday

The Holiday came out in 2006 staring Cameron Diaz, Kate Winslet, Jude Law and Jack Black.

The movie is about how two woman need a vacation. One of them, the one who lives in England has her home listed on a house exchange website. The other woman, the one who lives in L.A. finds this really cute cottage in England to get away from her cheating ex. Amanda owns a trailer editing company and has lots of money to spare being in L.A. but just doesn’t have time for her ex anymore. Iris is in England in love with her boss who is getting engaged but is leading her to do what ever he needs her to do. Iris needs to get a way and to fall out of love with this man.

The ladies switch homes within 48 hours of talking with each other online to start their vacation. Amanda ends up wanting to give up to quickly but ends up staying after Iris’s good-looking brother Graham needs to stay the night at the house. Amanda and Graham end of developing a relationship with each other.

Iris is just having a good vacation when she ends up meets Amanda’s ex’s friend/business associate, Miles. The two of them end up falling in love with each other. Iris is a writing who works for an English news paper.

Both end up going on vacation but end up finding their most significant life’s love interest. It is a romantic comedy for sure. But there are other things in the movie to make it interesting like Graham is a widower and has two kids, Amanda doesn’t know about it at first but find out soon enough. Iris ends up helping out Amanda’s neighbour who ends up being a renowned screen play writer. Miles initially has a girl friend but they don’t end up lasting long as she cheated on Miles.

There is some conflict but it is still a really interesting.

Would I recommend this movie? Yes, I have watched this movie a lot since it has come out and I will most likely watch it again as time goes on. I think it is really a timeless piece. You end up going on a vacation to get away from what you find in life.
