Today's Dippit!

Quote

The family is the test of freedom; because the family is the only thing that the free man makes for himself and by himself.

Gilbert K. Chesterton

Joke

The person who invented the door knock won the No-bell prize.

Fun Fact

Dying is illegal in the Houses of Parliaments.

Strange as it is, this law is in place because anyone who dies in the Houses of Parliaments is entitled to a state funeral.

This has been voted as the most ridiculous law by the British citizens.

History Fact

Johnny Appleseed Was Real

The folkloric hero was a real person. His real name was John Chapman and his hometown was Leominster, Massachusetts. He also has a street named after him, though the city planners decided it would be more poetic to use his mythical name: Johnny Appleseed Lane.

Movie/TV Trivia

Mother!

Jennifer Lawrence got so much into her character that during the climactic scenes, she started hyperventilating and even cracked a rib. After filming the scene in which Jennifer Lawrence hyperventilated (and production was put on hold while she was placed on oxygen), members of the crew came up with the idea to make Lawrence her very own "happy place"--a tent complete with gumballs and clips of "Keeping Up with the Kardashians" that play on a constant loop.

Movie/TV Quote

"I don't like sand. It's all coarse, and rough, and irritating. And it gets everywhere."

Star Wars: Episode II - Attack of the Clones (2002)

Hayden Christensen became an instant icon for all of his weird lines in Star Wars: Attack of the Clones and its sequel Revenge of the Sith -- unfortunately for him, not because any of those lines were any good. The characteristically dopey delivery of his diatribe against sand to his lover Padmé Amidala is perhaps the finest bit of unintentionally comedic acting in the whole Star Wars saga. Anakin grew up as a slave on a desert planet, so yeah, naturally, the texture of sand would probably bring back those memories. But, geez, man, can't you think of a less creepy way to say it?
