Joke of the Day

What does a broken plate say when she gets her cupcake?

Is this GLUE-ten free?

Fun Fact

The human body literally glows.

It might be hard to see with your naked eye, but everyone you pass by every day is literally glowing. The human body emits a small quantity of visible light ("visible" in the technical sense—the illumination is about 1,000 times less intense than levels of light that we would actually be able to see). Researchers in Japan used a special camera to track this glow and found that it fluctuates throughout the day, with the body emitting its lowest levels of light around 10 a.m. and highest at around 4 p.m., a rhythm the scientists attribute to the changes in one's metabolism.

History Fact

Successful Missions

In 1985, when Professor of Oceanography Robert Ballard announced he was planning a mission to find the RMS Titanic, it was actually a cover story for a classified mission to search for lost nuclear submarines. His team finished their mission before they were due back, so they spent the extra time at sea looking for the Titanic and actually went on to actually find it!

Movie/TV Trivia

Interstellar

For a cornfield scene, Christopher Nolan sought to grow five hundred acres of corn, which he learned was feasible from his producing of Man of Steel (2013). The corn was then sold, and actually made a profit.
