Fun Fact

Napoleon was once attacked by thousands of rabbits.

Napoleon Bonaparte was once one of the most powerful men in Europe, but he suffered an ignominious defeat at the hands (or paws) of rabbits. After a military victory, Napoleon's chief of staff organized a rabbit hunt to celebrate. Thousands of rabbits were brought in to be set loose, but instead of hopping away when the cages were opened, they turned to attack, swarming the partygoers. After trying and failing to shoo them away, the great Emperor Napoleon ran for the safety of his carriage.

History Fact

The Bloody Mary Wasn't Always Called a Bloody Mary

The popular brunch beverage and hangover cure didn't actually start off as being called a Bloody Mary. Nope. It was actually called A Bucket Of Blood. Appetizing… After Bucket Of Blood, it transitioned to Red Snapper and, finally, Bloody Mary.

Movie/TV Trivia

In Titanic, if you added together the duration of all the scenes set in 1912, it would be two hours and 40 minutes, the same amount of time it took the actual Titanic to sink.

Weird Laws

Registering as Married at a Hotel in North Carolina Makes It So

Let's say a man and a woman walk into a hotel in North Carolina, request to share a room, and claim they are married. By common law marriage rules in the state, that man and woman would legally be married.

As the couple "outwardly present themselves as husband and wife to the public," they are deemed a common law marriage, that is honoured and valid in North Carolina.

Should you find yourself in need of a hotel room for the night, you may want to fess up if you aren't a married couple.
