I have had another busy week where I have read 4 books, donated some books to Little Free Libraries and I have traded in some books for some store credit which I think is amazing. Below I will list the books and my reviews on each book that I have read this week.
This week I have read four books and they are…
1. The Mouse and the Motorcycle by Beverly Cleary
2. The Perks of Being a Wallflower by Stephen Chbosky
3. It’s Different This Time by Joss Richard
4. The Self-Healing Mind: An Essential Five-Step Practice for Overcoming Anxiety and Depression, and Revitalizing Your Life by Gregory Scott Brown, MD
This is what I thought of each book.
The Mouse and the Motorcycle by Beverly Cleary
This book is super cute, it brings back a whole bunch of nostalgia for me from when I was a kid.Keith and his parents go on vacation and end up at this Inn in the middle of no where. In Keith's room there is a knothole that is actually a hole and a family of mice live there.Keith makes friends with Ralph (a mouse) and Keith lets Ralph ride his motorcycle toy and lets him know that the only way to make it work is to make the sound that the motorcycle would make and that is how Ralph is able to make it work.Ralph ends up losing the motorcycle when the maid comes and cleans the room but by the end the bellman who knows that the mouse family lives in the knothole in this room, brings it back to Keith!Keith ends up letting Ralph keep the motorcycle as payment for getting him an aspirin the night before when he was sick. Ralph had to use Keith's ambulance toy to fetch it but he was able to bring it back safely though.
The Perks of Being a Wallflower by Stephen Chbosky
This books is about a young boy's journey through high school from August 25, 1991 to August 23, 1992 with an afterward special anniversary edition letter from Charlie letter written September 18, 2012.I felt like this book did really depict a good high school experience that I believe most kids have and I thought that it was well done. You see Charlies life through his letters to his dear friend (who you never end up meeting or knowing who they are) and how he has struggled in life and how he is navigating his world. I think that it was really well done.
It’s Different This Time by Joss Richard
This is a second chance romance book. We have June and Adam who end up being roommates in college but are dating but not really dating.June is an actress and has had some success on Broadway. June decides to try movie and TV acting and movies to LA to do that. June doesn't say goodbye to Adam but they weren't technically together, he had a girlfriend after all.Adam, in college, was studying to be a chef and current owns his own michelin star restaurant in NY. June is forced to come back to NY from LA due to the apartment that she lived in with Adam is being willed to them and she has to stay in NY for the paperwork to go through.During this month Adam and June had a second chance at becoming lovers again and of course there is some mishaps that come along with that.June has to make the final decision, does she stay in NY and do another Broadway show, a show that she has always wanted to be in or go back to LA to do a movie.
The Self-Healing Mind: An Essential Five-Step Practice for Overcoming Anxiety and Depression, and Revitalizing Your Life by Gregory Scott Brown, MD
This is a non-fiction book that looks at five different pillars to try and help you revitalize your life. The five things are, breath work, sleep, spirituality, letting food me your medicine and movement. There were a lot of good resources in this book and some good ideas.I am not spiritual at all so I can't say that having this chapter really spoke to me and I could have done without but I did enjoy the book as a whole. The one thing that I didn't like about this book was how much he brought up yoga. It is great and fantastic that, that is what he is into but I felt like it was mentioned way to much to the point where I felt annoyed by it. It was a decent book, I would recommend.
Overall, I think that I have had quite the successful week coming off a pretty successful weekend of adulting that I had to do and I am very happy that I had the time to put everything together and out the door while reading four books this week!
I am pretty proud of myself for doing this al land that is all that I can hope for!
Happy reading everyone and I will see you on the next Dippit!
