This week I have read a bunch of novellas and a nonfiction book and it was been quite the for filling kind of week.

This week I have read…

1. Hot for Slayer by Ali Hazelwood

2. Unbound by Ali Hazelwood

3. This is How You Lose The Time War by Amal El-Mohtar and Max Gladstone

4. The Courage to Be Disliked by Ichiro Kishimi and Fumitake Koga

This is what I thought of each one

Hot for Slayer by Ali Hazelwood

This novella is about a vampire and a slayer who fall in love. They do say that opposites attached and that is right for this couple. It does take some time but the do end up together and they end up traveling together and created a good life together.

Unbound by Ali Hazelwood

I really do like this novella duology. We are following Lilit who is a vampire and her on again off again relationship with a doctor over a course of 10 years.Roman is breaking it off with Lilit when on the way home another vampire is after Lilit and she kills him when the truth comes out that Lilit is a vampire and eventually when going into hiding as Roman needs to do so that he isn't seeing another girl but he is sick and has six months to live.We spend the course of this novella trying to see if Lilit will make Roman into a vampire to save him and their relationship as well.

This is How You Lose The Time War by Amal El-Mohtar and Max Gladstone

I thought that is novella was good, but not necessarily worth the hype that it received at the time.We are following to special agents who are trying to ruin/sabotage each others plans that they have and they are writing letters to each other to sabotage each others plans but they soon turn into love letters. They never meet but they win the time war by not really fighting at all but being together with themselves and that is all that you need. I would recommend though.

The Courage to Be Disliked by Ichiro Kishimi and Fumitake Koga

This book is divided into 5 different sections which each have their own lesson. It is written in a conversation style between a philosopher and a youth. They are discussing the psychology of Alfred Alder.A lesson that I picked up is that ...1. To be in the present and to determine what is happening now. Do not think in terms of what happened in my past, analyses this and determine that is why you are like this now and how to proceed in the future. You are to be in the present and make present and determine what is best to move forward now.2. Do not think that because of X thing that means Y and that is why it is like that and you can't do that one thing. You can really just change and do what you want. That things in the past things are not predetermined and things are just about being and doing whatever you want and being the person that you want to be.3. It is about the community and you are to join and give yourself to your community versus yourself. Be asking what you can do for others and that the world is not about you.4. Always be positive and to encourage always. Just like you always encourage children to do their best, do that with your community and do what you want.5. Be present and do what you want and always stay in the present.I would recommend this book to others.

I am happy that I took the time to read these books and I am looking forward to reading another whole more books this week and I am looking to challenge myself with my reads as well with more longer books!  Regardless, I hope your ave a fantastic week, happy reading and I will see you on the next Dippit!
