Dippit! Round Up of 2 Books Read

This week I have read 2 books and have done a deep dive into the Mary Poppins series.  The 2 Books I have read are,

1. Mary Poppins Comes Back by P. L. Travers

2. She Didn’t See it Coming by Shari Lapena

This is what I thought about them.

Mary Poppins Comes Back by P. L. Travers

I think this book was pretty good, different and slightly darker than what I would have originally thought in some parts but good non the less. The book starts off with Mr. Banks coming to Cherry Tree Lane to stay with them for a month but ends up being mean to Mary Poppins and so Mary Poppins turns her into a canary because she trapped a canary. (The bird was released and replaced with Mr. Bank's nanny)The there was a balloon lady who keeps saying that there are balloons and then there are balloons. She ends up telling everyone to take the time to choose their balloons and if they choose the right one their name will be on one. The kids and Mary Poppins do fine the right one.The book ends with Jane, Michael and the Mary Poppins on a Mari-go-round where it ends up going so fast that Mary Poppins leaves with ride and out of their lives. Jane and Michael know that she will return soon, when they need her most.

She Didn’t See it Coming by Shari Lapena

This book kept me on the edge of my seat the entire time I was reading this.A mother and wife named Bryden Frost ends up disappearing unsuspectingly and no one knows where she is or why she left. We soon find out that she was murdered and her body was found in a suit case in a storage unit in her condominium building. You are left wondering if the murderer was her husband, sister, best friend or the guy who Bryden had a fender bender with a few weeks back. The story that came out and the real story of what actually happened are two different things but the honest truth will never come out. There is a misdirect but it was their significant other that was hiding something more sinister.

They were good books.

The deep dive that I have found out about Mary Poppins is that there is 4 books plus 2 novelettes and the 2 novelettes usually are released in one bound copy, making the books a 5 books series.  I am happy that I have figured this out.  I just need to be able to find a copy of book 4 to be able to read it as my library doesn’t have a copy on any medium to consume.  I am not sure if I will purchase it now, but I will figure that out in the future.

Marry Poppins also has a board book teaching babies their ABC’s as well as a recipe book called Mary Poppins in the Kitchen.  So, technically there are 8 books but there really are only 4 plus 2 novelettes so 5 bound books at the end of the day.

I am looking forward to finishing off next week!

Happy reading everyone!
