  10. Infernal Devices (Book 6)

  11. A Darkling Plain (Book 7)

This week I read….

1. The Traction Codex: An Historian’s Guide to The Era of Predator Cities

2. Thunder City by Philip Reeve

3. Bridge of Storm by Philip Reeve

This is what I thought of each one.

The Traction Codex: An Historian’s Guide to The Era of Predator Cities

This book relates what the Traction era was in the Mortal Engines history is as well as a timeline and a glossary of all of the terms in the Mortal Engines universe. The book does reference the Fever Crumb trilogy as well as the Mortal Engines quartet. It is a fabulous short story that does add to the Mortal Engines universe quite well!

Thunder City by Philip Reeve

This book takes place between Fever Crumb and Mortal Engines. It takes an unlikely group of people together and has them fight together for what is right up to the end of the book where they just don't know how to go back to their regular old lives. We start of following Helen and Striker during the Traction wars to then get to Tamzan Pook who is a fighter that has been reanimated with some technology but isn't like Striker by any means. We have a mercenary named Doom who gets caught up in this mix as well as an artist named Giotto and a teacher named Hilly who really get to fight in this power struggle among different Tractionist. This group of people stick together in the end, not knowing what they are going to do after being part of this part of history but they know they are destined for great things after what they have survived.

Bridge of Storm by Philip Reeve

This novel has the same band of characters from Thunder City. The troupe is helping out a Traction City to get their historical artifacts to the City of London so their history libraries and catalogs can be combine.Along the way Tamazen, Doon and Vespertine get taken prisoner on another city and Hilly, Max and Twan are trying to save them.Little pieces from the Fever Crumb series do come into play with this book which I do like. The title of the book comes into play when the city needs to cross a bridge to get to the rendezvous point to meet London and Hilly needs to help steer the ship with a flag that she is waving at the head of the ship. London is late to the meeting but do they get there in time or even at all before the historical artifacts get burned and destroyed? After all of this adventure, our troupe still wants to venture out into the world searching for a new one!

I am happy with the books that I have read this week and the books that I picked up or hauled but I unsure if I will read any of them or donate them but I do have them and that is fine with me.

Anyways, happy reading everyone and I will see you on the next Dippit!
